IRATA training with a difference

This is a very quick shout out to SG Access Solutions Ltd after a visit to their unique training centre. Set within a grade A listed church in central Scotland, it was an amazing experience to climb there within complex architecture and on some new kit.

IRATA ROPE ACCESS TRAINING, IN A BEAUTIFUL GRADE A LISTED CHURCH

A key component of my work is working with wildlife in some complex and potentially highly dangerous situations. Skills and knowledge gained through training keep me safe. An IRATA qualification can be essential for this as conservation and ecology fieldwork can involve some pretty tasty abseils, such as on the famous Glasgow University Tower.

If you are looking to get into wildlife or rope access work, this is a great venue to do your IRATA training course, or any of the other courses they offer. Drop them a line, they are super friendly and extremely professional. Here are a few images to give you a sneak peek inside.

So many cool structures to access and note the church organ in the background!

There’s always something new to learn. This time I picked up new techniques with lanyards for the vertical and horizontal aid climbs. With so many cool structures to access and I was too busy climbing to take many photos and I only wish I'd had more time to admire the architecture!

Thanks to SG’s instructor Patryk Halinowski who put me through my paces on the ropes and a big thanks to Training Manager Craig Smith for his fine hospitality.
